Victoria Beckham has been named on the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list, she revealed to her family this Christmas.
Expecting an OBE for her fashion empire and body of charity work, the mother-of-four will follow in famous husband David’s footsteps, 13 years after he received his nod from the Queen.
Sources close to the family told MailOnline on Wednesday that Victoria, 42, was ‘delighted and humbled for the recognition’.
The insider revealed: ‘Victoria is incredibly proud of the fashion brand she has built and ever thankful for her amazing team.’
Victoria told her family – sons Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, and Cruz, 11, along with five-year-old daughter Harper – during the festive period, when it is understood that they retreated for a private family break in the Maldives.
Having transferred her skills from singing to designing, former Spice Girl Victoria is recognised for her work in fashion, most notably her eponymous clothes label and its secondary diffusion line Victoria, Victoria Beckham.
By his side: Thirteen years after she was by her husband David’s side during his own OBE experience, the fashion designer is set to be honoured for her own work
But we’re told she is especially pleased to be receiving the ‘Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire’ honour for her humanitarian work.
The source continued: ‘She is especially thrilled that her philanthropic work as a UNAIDS goodwill ambassador, creating a voice and awareness for women with HIV that suffer prejudice and discrimination has been recognised in this way.’
Victoria’s husband-of-17-years David received his OBE at Buckingham Palace in 2003 for services to football, with Victoria by his side.
Speaking earlier this year for the documentary Our Queen At Ninety, the former sportsman said it remains one of his proudest moment.
‘Collecting my OBE was one of the proudest moments,’ he told the documentary-makers.
‘That day was special for me because I brought my grandparents with me, it made me proud that I could bring them to somewhere that they worshipped for their whole lives.
He added: ‘Meeting the Queen, it doesn’t get better than that. You can feel the emotion, I can personally feel the emotion, because I just love everything about our Queen and what she represents.
‘We all look for role models, we all look for leaders. I’m privileged and proud that we have the number one leader.’

Hands-on: The fashion designer recently chose 25 of her daughter Harper’s oufits to donate to charity last year (pictured) in aid of Save The Children
That day, the artist formerly known as Posh Spice was proudly on his arm, but it was a full five years before she was to launch her international fashion empire.
Victoria’s line made a modest debut at New York Fashion Week in September 2008, showing 10 dresses which received extremely high praise.
Tipped as ‘one of the hottest things going’ that week, Victoria’s line surprised and delighted many.

Rubbing shoulders: She is also particularly close to British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman (left, with Victoria and Anna in September) even being asked to do a cameo in the recent documentary Absolutely Fashion: Inside British Vogue
Back in the day: Victoria established her fashion friendships early (here, rubbing shoulders with the director of fashion house Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, in 2007)
It has won many awards, receiving the Best Brand accolade at the British Fashion Awards in both 2011 and 2014.
A nod to her increasing success, Victoria was also nominated for the prestigious Womenswear Designer of the Year gong in 2016.
Famous fans of the label include Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes, Sienna Miller, Blake Lively, and not forgetting close personal friend Eva Longoria,
The fashion brand expanded tremendously in 2014, doubling the work force – to what stands at around 150, now – and reportedly taking home £34million turnover.
Delighted: She is said to be especially proud that her work with UNAIDS is being recognised
Victoria opened her flagship store in London that year, on Dover Street, and followed it up with a store in Hong Kong in 2016.
This year too, she was thought to finally be earning more than her retired footballer husband, after her company increased revenue by £9m on the £25m of the previous year.
That’s not all, because ‘Brand Beckham’ has expanded from David’s endorsements and Victoria’s fashion business to their children.
Their 11-year-old son Cruz is the latest of the brood to step into the limelight by following in Victoria’s footsteps with a music career.
Brand Beckham is strong: The couple have now been married for 17 years
Flashback: The couple (here in May 2003) have also developed their sense of style
The school-age youngster signed with former child star Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun and released his debut single If Everyday Was Christmas, earlier this month.
In the spirit of the family’s philanthropic focus, it was a similarly charitable venture where proceeds went to Global’s Make Some Noise foundation, which helps disadvantaged young people in the UK.
Teenager Brooklyn, the couple’s first-born, also recently announced the publication of his photography book, due in March next year, after reported photography contracts with Huawei and Burberry in 2016.
Romeo has also gone in front of the lens, modelling for British fashion brand Burberry.
What came before: Victoria was formerly known for her garish taste in clothing (here in June 2007) when she was best known as a football WAG
Then Victoria Adams, the fashion designer was one fifth of the best-selling female pop group of all time.
The group was formed in 1994 with of Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) and Geri Horner nee Halliwell (Ginger Spice) but eventually split when Geri left in 2000.
Most recently, the band reformed with only the latter three members under the name GEM (an acronym for the first letters of their names).
Despite reuniting with the girls in 2007 and again in 2010, Victoria decided not to join the 20th anniversary, citing her focus as ‘very much’ on her family and fashion business.
In another life: Before fashion, Victoria was the artist formerly known as Posh Spice (centre) in the girlband The Spice Girls, along with (from left) Mel C (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Horner nee Halliwell (Ginger Spice ) and Mel B (Scary Spice)
