I HAVE YOU IN MY MIND, MY HEART AND MY #PRAYERS

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always with every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy….it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart….For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:3-4, 7, 8).

The apostle Paul didn’t have the benefit of going into a card store, but many of the words he wrote to congregations and individuals are filled with sentiment and worded in such a way that perhaps they should be used in greeting cards.  He used these terms “I have you in my mind”, “I have you in my heart” and “I have you in my prayers” very affectionately when he was addressing those Philippian brethren.
We reciprocate with people who love us and it is normal to hold people dear to us in our heart, thoughts and even in our prayers when we see them on a regular basis.  How about the shut-ins, the elderly, the lonely and the down and out?  Can you think of someone who needs a word of encouragement who has been off your radar screen?  Why not send them a reminder that you are praying for and thinking of them.
Our ministering to others can be life’s greatest investment.  Jesus said when we visit the sick, feed the hungry, heal the hurting, visit those in prison, we are ministering to Him.  When we become an instrument in God’s hands to bear the saints and sinners alike in our hearts and prayers, we are making eternal investment.
We have the Holy Spirit’s ability to do what we are insufficient to do in ourselves.  He strengthens and gives endurance to go beyond our natural ability in all areas of ministry.  It is the apostle Paul who said, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Phil 4:13).
Let’s ask God to guide our thoughts and prayers as we think of our brethren.  Let us embrace them dearly.
