Confidence in God

Philippians 4:19… “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
In 1943, Abraham Maslow published his famous theory in psychology; now known as the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. This theory indicates that human beings have different type of needs that can be categorized into five levels. Physiological needs, safety needs, love/belonging needs, esteem needs and self-actualization needs. Maslow further indicates that only when the lower needs are satisfied, does an individual desire for higher level needs.
Further to that, you will agree that we all have needs, and needs that we do, have the ability to fulfill on our own. You will further agree with me that not all your needs can be fulfilled with money and material things. Some of the richest people in our world today are sad and in need of real happiness which cannot be purchased with money.
It was the apostle Paul who while writing to the Philippians believers from prison in Rome and was about to be killed for preaching the gospel that said, he was confident in the ability of his God to supply all his needs. Not some, not a limited amount, not only his physiological needs, not only his need for safety, not only his need for love/belonging or his self – actualization but all his needs without exceptions. Even in the face of his own demise and adversity Paul was confident in the ability of God to meet all his needs.
Maybe today you are like Paul or maybe even worse but even as you face your life’s situation, I want to encourage you to be confident in God’s ability to meet your needs….all your needs.
